If you would like more information about Lewis County, rental cottages, tourist attractions, Lake Bonaparte history, Eurasian Water Milfoil, or other items of interest to the lake community, we invite you to search through our list of favorite internet sites:
ARTISTS:
Dean Richards grew up at Lake Bonaparte and many of his charcoal and graphite drawings depict scenes and wildlife from the area. You can see some of Dean's work at www.deanrichards.com.
RENTAL COTTAGES:
Long Falls Cottages has two waterfront cottages available for weekly rental from May through September. More information can be obtained by visiting their web site www.bonaparte-rentals.com.
Additional rental cottages can be found at www.roundthebend.com. Look for Lake Bonaparte under the Adirondack region.

BED AND BREAKFAST:
While not located on the lake, The Kilbourn House is located in Harrisville, the village closest to Lake Bonaparte. You will not lack a view of the water as the Kilbourn is located next to the Oswegatchie River. Visit: www.kilbournhouse.com.
LEWIS COUNTY
Lewis County maintains a user friendly site packed full with information about the many advantages of living in the area and details about its many tourist attractions. Visit www.lewiscountychamber.org.
LAKE HISTORY:
There is a lot more information written about Napoleon Bonaparte than his brother Joseph from whom Lake Bonaparte gets its name (he had his summer villa here after being exiled from Spain), but if you really want to learn about his infamous past and amorous adventures go to: http://www.napoleonseries.org/articles/biographies/joseph.cfm
Lake Bonaparte was once the home of a Boy Scout camp, Camp Kamargo. The camp was located on the South Shore Road. Read one camper's recollections of it and view three real photos of the site. www.cnyscouts.org/historical/camp_kamargo_history.html.
MILFOIL:
Of course, we recommend the Enviroscience site for information about weevils and milfoil. If you look carefully at the home page, you'll see the weevil move. The section on the Midfoil program tells about the milfoil control plan activated at Lake Bonaparte. Check out www.enviroscienceinc.com.
Dr. Ray Newman of the University of Minnesota has done extensive research about milfoil and weevils. This site will show you a close-up picture of a weevil and differentiate between Northern and Eurasian Water milfoil as well as providing other research findings. http://www.fw.umn.edu/research/milfoil/milfoilbc/Doyouhaveweevils.htm
GIFTS:
The Bonaparte Candle Shop located N.Y.S. Rt. 3 just outside the village of Harrisville is a favorite stop for locally made candles and Adirondack gifts. Visit their site for a unique shopping experience. http://www.bonapartecandle.com.
